Dr. Srinivas Mukkamala, SVP of Security Products at Ivanti, and Mike Montoya, CISO at Equinix, will discuss how risk-based vulnerability and patch management can drive business value and reduce risk

SALT LAKE CITY — 4. November 2021 —

Ivanti, the provider of the Ivanti Neurons automation platform that discovers, manages, secures, and services IT assets from cloud to edge, today announced that Dr. Srinivas Mukkamala, SVP of Security Products at Ivanti, and Mike Montoya, CISO at Equinix, will present at the Gartner Security & Risk Management Summit 2021. They will discuss how to revolutionize patch management and proactively combat cyber threats and ransomware attacks.

When: Thursday, November 18, 2021 from 12:45pm – 1:05pm EST

Who: Dr. Mukkamala is the SVP of security products at Ivanti. Previously, he served as CEO and co-founder of RiskSense, a risk-based vulnerability management company. He is a recognized expert on cybersecurity and artificial intelligence (AI), and was one of the early researchers to introduce support vector machines for intrusion detection and exploit labeling. He was part of a think tank that collaborated with the U.S. Department of Defense and U.S. Intelligence Community on applying these concepts to cybersecurity problems. Additionally, Mukkamala was a lead researcher for Computational Analysis of Cyber Terrorism against the U.S. (CACTUS). He holds a patent on Intelligent Agents for Distributed Intrusion Detection System and Method of Practicing.

Montoya is CISO at Equinix, the world’s digital infrastructure company™, where he is responsible for leading Equinix’s global cybersecurity risk program. He also serves on the board of directors for F5 Networks, a multi-cloud application security and delivery company. He has extensive experience overseeing global cybersecurity programs and advising large enterprises, governments, and regulators across global markets. Prior to Equinix, Montoya served as SVP and CISO at Digital Realty. Before that, he held various leadership roles at Microsoft, including Chief Cybersecurity Advisor, where he led security initiatives and operations for the development and delivery of Microsoft cloud security products and services. He has also held leadership roles at FireEye, EMC Corporation and Avanade Inc.

Why: IT and security teams are dealing with the challenges of the Everywhere Workplace, in which workforces are more distributed than ever before and cyberattacks are intensifying. And as threat actors are maturing their tactics and weaponizing vulnerabilities, especially those with remote code execution, organizations are struggling with attack surface risk and ways to accelerate patch and remediation actions. Most organizations do not have the bandwidth or resources to map active threats, such as those tied to ransomware, with the vulnerabilities they exploit.

In this session, Dr. Mukkamala and Montoya will discuss how organizations can reduce their exposure to cyber threats and ransomware attacks by taking a proactive, risk-based approach to patch management. Security and IT operations teams can reduce the mean time to detect, discover, remediate, and respond to cyber threats by leveraging a combination of risk-based vulnerability prioritization and automated patch intelligence. With real-time context and adaptive intelligence regarding what their organization’s exposures are to vulnerabilities that are being actively exploited, including whether those vulnerabilities are tied to ransomware, security and IT teams can quickly deploy patches and remediate those threats.
